VMware Manager, Site Reliability in Sofia, Bulgaria

The Global Services Digital Platform organization is looking for an experienced, hands-on technical manager to lead and grow the Site Reliability Engineering function for the platform. The right person for this role will bring a software engineering perspective to delivering quality operations at scale, driving automation in every aspect of the job.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the operational scalability, stability and quality of the GS Digital Platform, including managing 24/7 pager duty coverage within the team for critical systems

  • Partnership with feature development teams, including influence and contribution to product design, establishing requirements and enabling the teams to understand and plan for operational needs

  • Grow and mentor a team of engineers, building their talents and exposing them to new challenges and experiences

  • Build great software to increase our manageability and visibility into the platform and automate anything and everything

  • High levels of oversight and consultation on production go-live processes and mechanisms, balancing the need to move iterative features rapidly to customers with our quality and customer satisfaction metrics

  • Lead the post-mortem process, finding root causes and driving lessons learned back into the organization

  • Provide expertise in building and running a large-scale, software platform with emphasis on performance and capacity

Qualifications:

  • ‚Äč10+ years combined experience with both software development and system administration/operations

  • 3+ years managing teams with responsibility for Site Reliability functions of scalable software platforms, with emphasis on a software-driven approach to operations

  • Strong experience designing, analyzing and troubleshooting scalable distributed systems

  • Experience with infrastructure and administration, such as Linux/Windows system internals and network routing/topologies

  • Experience designing and deploying software using cloud services, particularly Cloud Foundry

  • Proven ability to recruit, grow and mentor a high-performing engineering team

  • Ability to communicate complex issues and solutions directly and concisely to all levels of the organization, including executive management and individual engineers
